Our hotel in Delhi is called Claridges.

Unfortunately it is nothing to do with Claridges in London. It is however a luxurious if slightly faded art deco hotel:

Every day a new carpet is laid in the foyer – a carpet of flowers, beautifully arranged by a young man who squats impossibly for an age making the most perfect arrangement.

The next day it is swept away and an entirely new design laid out.

There are three restaurants one of which rates very highly in the restaurant listings in Delhi.

Breakfast is impressive, the service impeccable and even the chef comes out to greet us. He recommends his speciality but on the first morning we are too jet lagged to eat much.

On the second morning Gordon is ready to face anything that the chef recommends and he does

It is an amazing presentation and Gordon is very happy.

Exactly seven hours later Gordon announces he is not feeling too good. One more hour and he is permanently installed on the toilet.

This is breaking all records. Within 38 hours of starting our vacation Gordon is desperately ill
